SECONDARY DEPARTMENT'S PROGRAMME A RECORD ATTENDANCE A record attendance favoured the annual concert staged by the Secondary Department of the Whakatane District High School which was held last Friday evening in the Caledonian Hall. As a result thei net proceeds are expected to total over £40i The items were all of a consistently high standard and received the warm applause which tliey deserved. The play-acting reached o particularly high level, reflecting the highest credit upon the teachers and others who had trained the young performers taking part. - The programme was as under:— Play: "The Man in the Bowler Hat.* Dance: Isobel Martin. Maori Item. Folk Dancing. Singing: Jean Armstrong and Co. "The Saxophone Waltz" song .and dance. "Bachelor G'ay" song and dnnce. Play: "Great Aunt Jemima." Pirate Dance: Isobel Martin. Sea Shanties. Folk Dancing. i Cornet Solo: Len Broadmore. Gipsy Item: Singing. Assembly; "Up Guards And At 'Em."
