CAPTIVE RABBITS

EAST COAST DECISION

A further ease of captive rabbits camc before the East Coast Rabbit Board's meeting in Gisborne on Friday, when the inspector, Mr H. A. Burgess, reported that he had located and destroyed some such rabbits in Wha'katane. This followed a report from Wairoa at the jjrevious meeting that a rabbit had been brought into the district. This one, too, was killed by an officer of the board. The board took a serious view of these instances, in the event of rabbits escaping from captivity if the practice of keeping them were permitted, and the board agreed that, it Would prosecute in any future instance. Six rabbits were killed in the Whakatane district during the past month. Twelve rabbits were killed in the southern area.
