ROUGH HANDLING

WARNING to carriers

BOBBY CALVES MALTREATED

A warning to the carriers of bobby calves in this district, was issued by Mr J. Phe'lan, chairman of the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, when in Whakatane last Thursday. "I understand," said Mr Plielan "that there are operators in this district who- have been, giving cause for widespread complaints They should realise that they were licensed as operators not for their own benefit, but for the benefit of the community. If I hear any more complaints about drivers overloading using trucks in bad repair, or refusing to go off the road to pick up calves, I warn them straight out that I will review their licences pretty quick. This sort of thing has' got to stop !"
