NOT A TALL STORY

MAN WAS HIT BY BOMB

HE LLVED TO TELL OF IT !

There is a man in Western Australia who was. hit by a 250111 Japanese bomb and lived to tell t the taie. ' Ben Furkin is his name, and at the time lie was serving as a cook on one of the Western Australian Government ships. The Japanese came over and he took shelter. The bomb, a dud, of course, came through an iron platform above- his head, cut away part of the brim of his hat, scraped a piece from the end of his nose, slashed in two the lifebelt he was- wearing, bored through two decks and came to rest in the hold. And his comrades do believe him, because some of them saw it.
