TEN MONTHS' KILLINGS

The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till August Ist, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings to that date total 11,061,953 carcases, this being a decrease of 158,433 carcases compared with the killings to August 2nd last season. Wether mutton killings are 757,039 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,961,528 carcases, compared with 615,727 and 1,5(53,262 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North Island, with figures. for the previous season in parentheses are as follows: —

Lamb (C/cs) 5,799,2-17 (5,814,635): wether mutton (C/cs) (170.342 (515,893); ewe mutton (C/cs) 1,157,318 (875,249).

Frozen beef production is now 628,107 quarters compared with 692,495 quarters last season.

Porker killings total 196,139 carcases, a decrease; of whilst baconers total 217,996 carcases, a

decrease of (34,!)95
