WORK ABOUT BOROUGH t i In his report to the Borough Coun- • cil last week the Electrical Engineer <Mr F. W. Lysaght) stated as unicier:— New Substation. A start has been ~made with the erection of a structure for a new substation to supply the hospital ami Stewart Street. The necessary switchgear and fuse mounts for this job are being made iup in our own workshop;, this will effect a considerable saving and will also allow vh.is job to be carried out as importation of this equipment as- at preserit very difficult. The transformer and fuse cabinet for this .job will be the ones recently rc.moved from King Street area. New Installations. A number of alterations and additions to installations have been inspected and connected to .the supply. Street Lighting Fittings. A 1111m?ber of tese fittings have, been "taken down rewired, painted and reinstalled . Water Works Dept. The pumping plants have been in service every vday during the month. Considerable 'Improvement has been made in the output of No. 1 pump since the rc.ceiit overhaul. 'Building Permits. The following 'building permits were issued during the month: Garage 1, additions to garage 1, additions to residence 1. "The total value of the above buildings being £240. -Government Housing. I would like to draw'the council's attention to the number of unsightly garages or so called car shelters that are gradually being erected on state sections. Some of these are very •crude indeed and in fairness to private owners of property should be xemoved.
