PLANS FOR RECLAMATION

At the meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board last Friday it. was' agreed to engage the services of Mr C. K. Griierson of Auckland to draw up a comprehensive scheme for the development and ultimate reclamation of the mudflats on the upper harbour at a fee of £85.

Mr Tiekner in discussing the proposal said he was anxious to sec that all local bodies concerned were in full sympathy with it. He had rather painful recollections of difficulties which had arisen between local bodies' in the past Avlien full agreement had not been reached in matters of this nature. The secretary read correspondence to the Borough Council under this head which indicated that that body was fully conversant Avith the proposals and had appointed its Works Committee to co-operate. The secretary Avas instructed to interview Mr Grierson if possible when in Auckland and to furnish him with as much data as possible.
