FOR TOP-DRESSING
ALLOCATION OF FERTILISER APPLICATIONS BY AUGUST 15th
The following Order in Coun-
cil relative to the rationing of phosphatic and organic fertiliser for topdressing has just come to hand. The main feature entitles farmers to 70 per cent, of the quantities allocated last year and glives the right for applications for a greater supply than this to be entered not liaiter than August 15.
The regulation reads:—
I he owner or occupier of any land inav, <1 wring the period to Avlrich Uiis Order applies, acquire for the & purpose of topdressing that lamd a* quantity of phosphatic fertiliser not exceeding 70 per cent (calculated in accordance with the First Schedule hereto) of the quantity of phosphatic fertiliser that was ■ authorisl- - to be acquired in respect of the same land pursuant to the Phosphatic Fertiliser Control Notice 1941.
(1) This clause applies only in cases where:— (a) An organic fertiliser (with, or without any other fertiliser) was used for topdressing any land during the period of two years ended on Uie .'list May, 1941; and (b) A supply of fertiliser in excess of the quantity that may be acquired under the last preceding clause is required for the purpose of topdressing that land.
(2) The owner or occupier of any land who requires for the purpose of topdressing that land any fertiliser in excess of the quantity that he is entitled to acquire under the last preceding clause may, not later than the 15th August, 1942, supply in writing to the appropriate Fertiliser Compiamy for authority to acquire additional fertiliser in accordance with this clause. ('!) Ever} 7 application made for the purpose of this clause shall give particulars as to: —• (a) The total quantity of organic fertiliser used by the applicant or any other person for topdressing the same land within the period of two years ended the 31st May, 1941(b) The name and business address of the vendor from whom any; such organic fertiliser was acquired; and (e) The name and business address of the veil dor from whom any additional supply made available pursuant to this clause will be ae-f quired. (1) On receipt of any such application and on being satisfied as to the truth of the statements 1 , disclosed therein the Fertiliser Committee shall authorise the applicant to acquire an additional supply of fertiliser foir the purpose oil" topdressing the said land equal to 2io per cent (calculated in accordance with clause 4 hereof and the First Schedule hereto) of the annual average amount of organic fertiliser used for topdressing the same kind within the aforesaid period oif two years. (o) Any additional fertiliser authorised to be acquired pursuant to this clause may be organic or phosphate or may be partly organic and partly phosphatic, according to the respective quantities , of such fertilisers'that may be available.
(6) The Chairman of the Fertiliser Committee shall give notice or cause notice to be given to the vendoir named in the application of the additional quantity of fertiliser that may be 1 acquired by the applicant under this clause.
