THE WEATHER

HOW IT AFFECTS PEOPLE

1 ! have, noticed that cheerful, optimistic people are especially inclined to blame the weather l'or their troubles. The more optimistic a person is, tlie less lie cares to. face an unpleasant situation. Hence the weather makes a handy thing to blame. He can assume that when the weather improves all will be well—and ignore the real cause. I know a man who eats too much, and consequently is always complaining about his health. But, being of a cheerful disposition, he is never willing to admit that he should reduce his rations. That would be too unpleasant a fact to lace. So lie gaily blames the weather. . . 1 have never known a day so pleasant that he couldn't find something about it to explain his physical discomforts." —Fred C. Kelly.
