LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WHAKATANE MEETING

The monthly meeting of the League was held in Knox Hall' on Tuesday afternoon last. The president, Mrs Sullivan, presided over a fair attendance of members and friends. The Thought for the month was given by Mrs G. Otle3 r , "Kducation to the child means a march into the unknown. I '' The meeting opened by the citation of the rules and objects of the League alter which all joined in the League's prayer and a wartime Litany. The main feature of the meeting was an address by Rev. J. G. Laughton on "Current Affairs." The speaker mentioned the all encirclement of the world by the British nation, but never in history had Britain been so hard pressed as at J present, and that by nations who had substiuted the creature for the Creator. We were, he said, witnessing the birth pains of a New Order, but not the New Order we hear so much about from many sides,, but that of God's Order, the Order of Love. "Love thy neighbour as thyself" was His order, and until the gods of this world were cast aside there would be no peace. Mr Laughton was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his most interesting address. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the committee and the meeting closed with the singing of tfie National Anthem.
