SUPREME COURT SENTENCE
OFFENCES AT OPOTIKI At tlie Auckland Supreme Court last week, before Mr Justice North-* croft, a young Maori was dealt with concerning offences committed recently at Opotiki. Three charges of breaking and entering and theft, one of escaping from lawful custody, one of breaking and entering Avith intent and one of mischief had been admitted by Ben Kora, a Maori aged 18. His Honour said it seemed that the reformation process had been exhausted, and the prisoner had defended to be permanently a criminal and must be treated as such. He was sentenced to 18 months' hard labour, to be concurrent with a sentence he Avas now serving.
