STRAYING STOCK
OWNERS IN" COURT FINES I IMPOSED Several prosecutions for permitting stock to stray were recorded in tlie Whakatane Magistrate's Court sitting yesterday. Kori Ngaheu who did not appear was charged with permitting a Jersey bull to be at large at Te Teko on June 10 last. Fined £2 and costs 17s. Jack Biddle who was charged at the instigation of the Borough Inspector (Mr Otley) was named as the owner of three cows which had been permitted to> wander in the vi.'inity of Landing Road, in his absence. Fined £2 and costs 12s! 6d. The extenuating circumstances in the ease of G. Booth, who was the owner of five head of stock found at large in the Borough, resulted in the magistrate fixing the fine at 10s and costs 22s Gd.
