OIL IN KING COUNTRY
INVESTIGATION URGED Some years ago there was a move*ment to try out the Taumarunui district for oil, but the Government geologists, without any test, gave their opinion against there . being any oil in the King Country, says the Taumarunui Press. On the other hand an expert from America was very enthusiastic about having discovered sure signs of oil in and around the borough of Taumarunui. It seems a pity that the American experts could not be- called in to examine the data obtained, here a few years ago by those who were experimenting at the time.
