Tomkins, Acting-County Engineer, at the last County Council meeting, "a survey of the area at the Te Teko Plantation felled by the Whakatane Paper Mills was made on the 11th instant. It was found that the first 22%acre triangular block of trees planted in 1926 was practically cut out. Up to 11th June (incl.) 1144% cords of timber had been delivered and a further 50 cards approx. were cut but not delivered making a total yield of 1194% cords from 21% acres or an average, of 53.2 cords per acre. This is less than the 36 cords realised from a % acre cut last O'ctober, but a bigger proportion of dead trees were encountered as the ting progressed.
