CATTLE DOG TRIALS
FIELD DAY AT TE TEKO A RECORD GATE On Wednesday last the Tc Telco Cattle Dog Trial Club held its annual trial and were favoured with a beautiful day and a record crowd. The committee "was pleased to welcome the Patron, Mr F l . W. Doidgc M'.s., Avho was able to be present and expressed his pleasure in meeting members of the club and the public generally. At the conclusion of the Dog Events Mr C. Eivers, president, called upon the P'atron to present the cups and this was done in an appropriate manner, Mr Doidge congratulating the winners. The performances of the dogs (with the exception perhaps of the winners and runners-up) was not up to the standard of last year due mainly to the fact that for some unknown reason the calves were difficult to work. On numerous occasions dogs doing first class work were unable to make any headway simply because the calves had other ideas. It was certainly their contrary day. The horse events were above last year's standard, due no doubt to the activities of the mounted troop in the Home Guard. Some very close and exciting finishes were witnessed. Entries in these classes were better than for many years. In the evening a dance was held which was conducted by a very capable committee of ladies of the Te Teko Branch of the W.D.F.U. Music was supplied by Ivingr's Rhythm Kings and a packed hall danced till the earlj' hours 'of the morning. During the evening the president, Mr C. Eivers, took the opportunity of thanking all those who assisted in making the day and evening such a success. List of Awards' The results of the day's events were as under.-— Dog Event- E.
