SCHOOL RUGBY
TAI MITCHELL SHIELD POSSIBLE TOURNEY IN WHAKATANE TJie Whakatane District Schools, as holders of the Tai Mitchell Shield, are privileged to hold the tourney here this August, and would like to do so. Teams invited to compete are Opotiki, Rotorua, Tauranga. Matamata, ancl Wliakatane. The winners hold the Tai Mitchell, and tlic runners-lip, the Boynton Shield for the ensuing year. The staging of the tournament in this town necessitates the billeting of the boys in local homes. The teams will assemble here on Monday, August 21, and leave again on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. The Tournament Committee therefore appeals to parents to billet the boys, preferably in twos. Will those able to do so please let the headmaster, W.D.H.S. know by Friday next 22nd 'phone 101. The staging of the tourney depends entirely on the response given by parents, and though times are difficult and unsettled, the teachers concerned would be sorry to see this annual event postponed.
