E.P.S. TEST
FOR the first time, last Saturday the public of Whakatane was given some insight into the net-work of the emergency organisation known as the E.P.S. The practice test, to any person privileged to make the round trip and note: the various stages of the operations in progress was a thing of intense interest. Three hundred men, women and. boy messengers were at their posts, almost to the minute, and as the schedule of 'disasters' proceeded to take place, the units concerned swung into make-believe action. Quite apart from the realistic nature of the detonations which re.-echoed over the town at specified intervals, the sight of the Fire Brigac!,e, the Ambulance and electric repair truck, dashing to all parts of the borough provided something which was quite unique for peaceful Whakatane. The whole of the personnel down to the smallest messenger must be warmly congratulated and we trust that their, worth and. efficiency will be. more widely recognised in the future.
