Native Scheme Rates A pleasant surprise was experienced by the County Council last Tuesday whan a letter was received from tbe Under-Secretary, Native Department, Wellington, advising that the reports ■which have now been received indicate that the revenue position is such that the payment of rates for the past year in connection with the Ngatiawa Native Land Settlement Scheme can be considered. Final accounts for the year have yet to be taken, but when this has; been done, the Registrar ol' thei Native Land Court at Rotorua will discuss the question of the rates with the council.
