MEETING OF UNION SHIELD MATCH DRAW The annual general meeting of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union took place in Whakatane last Saturday" authorised delegates being present from Opotiki, Tauranga, Whakatane, Rangitaiki and the Referees' Association. The president, Mr A. E. Sprat't, expressed the Union's condolences to the relatives of players and members avlio had fallen in the country's defence during the last 12 months, and the meeting stood in silence as* a mark of respect. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron: Mr F. J. Burt; vice-patron: Mr Les Clarke; president: Mr A. E. Spratt; vice-presi-dents: Presidents of all sub-unions; hon. secretaryt-treasurer: Mr W. S. Henderson: hon. auditors Mr J. H. Ruddy; hon. solicitor: Mr Geo Otley; executive: The President, Secretary, Messrs Burrett, Burt, Clarke, Guiness and Peebles; Maori representative: Mr A. O. Stewart; selectors: Messrs Burrett, French and Fisher. N.Z.R.U. nominations were dealt with and approved. Shield: The draw or order of play is as: follows: Rangitaiki v Tauranga, Saturday, 4th. July; Whakatane v holders, Saturday, 18th July; Rotorua v holders Saturday, Ist August; Opotiki v holders Saturday, 15th August; final replay match on Saturday, 29th August. Parata Cup: It was decided to susrpend competition for this trophy for this season. Shalfoon Shield: It was decided that the draw be arranged later by the executive with, similar travelling grants. It was also decided that the sum of £2 10s from the home, union's gate is to be forwarded to the Bay Union, who in turn will refund the full amount of £5 to the travelling team. Rep Matches: The meeting decided to advise Waikato that August Bth would be suitable for match, in Bay [ territory. A vote was taken as to whether the match should be at Tauranga or Rotorua. The majority decided the game should be played at Rotorua. Gate Charges: It was decided that the following charges apply to Rep. matches and Shield matches this | season: Gents 1/6, members of Armj ed Forces in uniform l/->, ladies 1/-, cars 1/-. School Grant: As soon as received this to be distributed on same prorata basis as last season. Mcintosh Shield: A complaint was made that one sub-union had asked and received permission from the travelling team to play .a member from another club. (Request was made to captain travelling team). The meeting decided that thisi was improper and that the rules of this: competition must be strictly adhered to.
