BAY OF PLENTY JERSEYS

OUTSTANDING SALES TOP PRICE FOR COWS 150 GNS Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. report what will probably be the two outstanding pedigree Jersey sales of the year, when the dispersal was held on consecutive days of Mr T. W. Wardlaw's Green Meadows; Stud and Mr J. S. Rae's Raeburn Stud. In both instances the cattle were a credit to the vendors and the consensus of opinion was that they comprised the finest array of female cattle that lias: been offered for a considerable time. This wasi confirmed by spirited bidding from a large gathering of breeders, a noticeable feature being the large number present from the Waikato, North Auckland, Taranaki and distant parts, of the Bay of Plenty. Mr C. E. Robertson officiated at both fixtures. The following is a summary of both offerings:—

Green Meadows There was great attraction to this sale which offered such large number of V.H.C. and H.C. cows and the number of cows offered with exceptional C.O.R. records was a great tribute to the vendors already well known capacity for selecting and breeding Jerseys of particular merit. The whole herd averaged 27 guineas, and while there were some passings this was mainly on the later or out of season calving cows. Bulls were not in keen demand, the top price being 75 guineas for the rising two year old sire Green Meadows Gay Owl, purchased by Mr J. EBlack, Edgecumbe.
