RED CROSS ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL MEETING WI-lAKATA NE SUB-CENTRE The third annual general meeting of the local branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was held in the Borough Couneil Chambers on Tuesday, 12th inst; there was a good attendance. The reports on the year's work of the Red Cross and Ladies' Working Committee were read by the president, Mrs W. Sullivan. Bouquets presented, to Mrs Hayter, the retiring vice-president, and Mrs Pearse, the retiring secretary. Mrs Sullivan said these ladies would be greatly missed; they were cheerful, willing and enthusiastic workers. Mrs E. Armstrong also spoke in appreciation. and both ladies suitably responded. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President: Mrs W. Sullivan; vice-presidents: Mrs E. Armstrong, Mrs L. Buddie, Mrs J. Billiard; secretaiy: Mrs A. W. Winstone; treasurer: Mrs H. Scarle; conveners of sub-committees: Knitting, Mrs C. Timbs; Sewing, Mrs M. Ramson; Comforts, Mrs S. S. Sliapley; Entertainments, Mrs E. Armstrong.
