THE RIGHT TO CRITICISE
A FLUKE utterance in the course of a recent sub-leader has led to an interesting comparison of views in our correspondence columns. For just such use do they exist and being, we have no doubt, perfectly honest expressions of opinion, the letters were welcome. A correspondent has commended us for printing scathing criticism of ourselves. In acknowledging the compliment, we at the same time trust that it is generally understood by our contributors that their perfect right and liberty to criticise and to condemn, will in no wise be interfered with by us provided a reasonable standard of decency and logic is maintained. We have endeavoured to give the fairest hearing to all shades of opinion in the past and with regard to criticism of ourselves our attitude
