CONSERVING POWER

ECONOMY STILL NECESSARY PROBLEM THIS WINTER Stating that the conservation of cleetric power would still be necessary this coming winter, the Controller of Electricity, Mr F. T. M. Kissell advised the Hamilton Borough Council that the increase being allowed authorities was the same as last year, namely 4 per cent, above that consumed in the corresponding period of the previous year. The controller pointed out that the conservation of the water in Lake Taupo and the completion of another supply line in the middle of the island had allowed another slight increase for this coming winter. but essential equipment for new generating plants had not arrived and the position might have to be reviewed. To enable the essential services to be properly conducted there was still an urgent need to see that no power was wasted anywhere.
