A LOCAL CANDIDATE

— LAND BOARD ELECTION MR W. MOORE OF THORNTON Considerable interest is occasioned by the candidature of Mr W. Moore of Thornton fo<r the vacancy on the Auckland Land Board. It is some time since this district had direct representation on the Board and Crown tenants will welcome the opportunity of voting for a man Avho will have their interests at heart and knows the conditions peculiar to the Bay of Plenty. Mr Moore has had years of practical experience both as a farmer and as an officer of the Lands Department, and has surveyed in practically all parts of the King Country. Being a Returned Soldier he has also had experience of the treatment meted out to men of the First N.Z.E.F. With rehabilitation looming largely in the future, the question of land settlement is of major importance, nnd it is Mr Moore's desire that the men coming homo from actii'e service and looking towards the land as a future means of livelihood shall have a fair deal. He realises that there is little first class land left in Ncav Zealand for settlement and ndvooates that larger holdings of first class land be taken over for closer settlement. As his election motto, he has taken the slogan: "The good liA T ing of the CroAvn tenant and his family should be the first charge on CroAvn properties."
