POSITION OF CURRENT APPEAL

At a recent meeting of the Whakatane County and Borough Inter-Zone Patriotic Committee, the secretary, Mr C. G. Ludas, tabled a statement sietting out the progress of the present AllPurposes Appeal. It was noteworthy that the position of some districts was assisted by a carry-over from the excess quota raised last year, and that in two instances nothing had sto far come to h.a;nd. The current appeal Zone allocation of £16,250 has been apportioned as between the Whakatane and Opotiki Interzones on the basis of the mean rateable capital value and population. This means that Opo-

tiki Interzone collects £5769 and Whakatane Jnterzone £10,481. It is pleasing to note that to date the Opotiki Interzone has collected in cash £1545 Is 3d. The Whakatane Interzonc's collection is £1518 15s 2d fox* the same period. Household Collection Boxes Only seven of the committees advised as to the number of household collection boxes required. It would be appreciated, if this matter could receive more urgent attention.
