FAREWELL EVENING
WELL ATTENDED EVENT
The farewell evening held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday was quite a successful one, with a large number of young couples and older folk. Mr Dick Boynton's orchestra supplied the dance music, and Mi* Malcolm Burke obliged with an extra. Mr R. Woolfield capably acted ns M.C. and Mr R. Morton doorkeeper. The guests of the evening were L.A.C. Lan Ruff and Wireless Telegraphist John Cranswick. After supper, Mr J. L. Burnett in a most interesting address,, called on the guests to accept a wallet and cheque from the residents of the district, Mrs Wylde making the presentations. Both the guests suitably responded, thanking all for the gift and most pleasure evening. The Monte Carlo waltzs were won by Mir Brian Burnett and Miss Eileen Addison, and Miss Woolfield and partner. A competition was won by Mr Bertir* Hughes. Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem closed the function.
