FIRE ON THORNTON COAST GROWTH RAZED FROM SANDHILLS Another large fire commenced on the Thornton coast on Saturday and lias not yet died out, but fortunately i't is reported 1 to have confined itself to the lupins in the sandhills. Throughout Saturday night and Sunday the fire raged over a lrge 'area and although it has subsided somewhat continues to-day. On Saturday night it Avas believed that the Whakatane Golf Cub's Links were endangered by the flames and members and others gathered in readiness to fight the fire. This damage was avoided, however, and it is believed that anything of a serious nature lias not yet resulted.
