THREE MONTHS' KILLINGS MEAT BOARD'S REPORT The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till January 3rd, as issued by the NeAV Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings now total 2,531,444 carcases, this being an increase of 627,359 carcases over the killings to January 4th last season. Wether mutton killings are 104,849 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 47,368 carcases, compared with 20,162 and 18,672 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses are as follows: —■ North Island Lamb 1,788,869 (1,531,398) Wether mutton 100,422 ( 19,330) Ewe 34,434 ( 18,011) South Island Lamb 742,575 (3/2,687) Wether mutton 4,427 ( 832) Ewe 12,934 ( 661) Frozen beef production lias reached 30,985 quarters compared with 33,515 quarters last season. Porker killings total 30,585 carcases, an increase of 24,535, whilst baconer total 105,798 carcases, a decrease of 13,435.
