FARMERS CO-OPERATION SOUGHT
COMMITTEE ISSUES AN APPEAL
"I would be grateful if you would publish the following statement and' appeal in your valuable columns. The matter is applicable to all farmers in your district and is in the form of an appeal to them to co-op-erate with each o>ther and to asisist in: meeting the difficult posi- . tion which has arisen in connection with harvesting particularly and farm work generally," staites a letter to the Beacon from the chairman of the No. 2 (Faeroa) Manpower Committee. Mr Edwin Edwards. The letter continues:— "The present crisis which has arisen through the war in the Pacific ami the necessity of mobilisation of all available men for collective training and for the defence of our country has necessitated a great number of men at present working ajid doing useful and essential work on farms being called from their positions. "The Manpower Committee has been called upon to deal with over three hundred appeals against such service and has given careful and painstaking consideration to every appeal. It has been impossible on account of the very short time at the disposal of the committee to hear every case but from evidence available the committee has now given decisions in all cases.
