FAREWELL GATHERING

MRS F. E. BERRY ENTERTAINED On December 5 a farewell afternoon party of the friends of Mrs F. E. Berry was held in the lounge of the Whakatane Hotel. Fifty-four friends were present and the function was a great success. Mrs Larmer played violin solos (two of them being Scottish airs) which were much appreciated, and Mrs Berry sang two songs. Presentations of a crystal reading lamp, an oil painting a suede covered book and an address showing the names of sixty-five friends were made. A beautiful bouquet of flowers was made and presented to Mrs Berry by Mrs Frank Brown. Mrs Berry feelingly thanked her friends. A dainty afternoon tea was provided by Mirs Hayter. The farewell concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
