PATRIOTIC FUNDS ALLOCATION
COMFORTS FOR TROOPS
In the recent budget of the £750,000 to be raised by Patriotic Councils throughout New Zealand the recent conference at Wellington decided, to allocate liberally for activities within the Dominion.
The outstanding item in this regard being the Imprests totalling £102,000 for the Y.M.C.A. (£43,000); Church of England Military Affairs Committee (£26,500); Salvation Army (£23,000); Catholic War Services Board (£9000); and Navy League (£500). These are net figures, the interests concerned being responsible for the following receipts :— Y.M.C.A. £72,000; Church Army £3000; Salvation Army £20,000; Catholic £2300. Expenditure in prospect includes the following: Y.M.C.A.: Buildings in course of erection, £8,500; bolted huts £7000; maintenance and stationery £4500; contingencies £10,000; administration (101 workers) £13,500. Cihurch Army: Chapels at Air Force Stations and Hopuhopu for use by all denominations £11,000; furnishings, repairs existing huts, stationery £7000; wages £5000. Salvation Army: Huts £6750; furnishings £3500; wages and administration £10,000. Catholic War Services Board: Huts, Waiouru, Hopuhopu and Narrow Neck £1400; furnishings £960; wages £1100. There is an additional £13,500 available for expenditure on extra furnishings for service huts and messes, and the furnishing of recreational huts, the provision of radio sets, etc., at vital points, supplies of stationery, crockery, etc. An allocation of £6900 is made for wool for Air Force Relations.
