LOYALTY REAFFIRMED

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH EXPRESSION At the meeting of the Bay of Plenty Presbytery held in Knox Church, Whakatane, on Tuesday last the following resolution was passed which it was thought would be of sufficient general interest for the Beacon. I' therefore forward it to you. "The Presbytery of the Bay of Plenty in this time of National danger reaffirms its loyalty to King and Country and expresses its pride and gratification that so many of our sons have given their all for the defence of the Empire and the cause of liberty, of conscience, and of Christianity. _ "Presbytery calls upon its people in the present grave crisis to humble themselves before God and in earnest prayer commit our country to Him for protection and safe keeping."

Gift Coupons The Government is to be asked to institute a system of coupons, negotiable in canteens overseas, which will be available for purchase in N'cw Zealand by those desirous, of enclosing small gifts in their letters to soldiers, and also free the senders of remittances to soldiers from the obligation to pay exchange, says the Monthly Bulletin of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council.
