AN UNDEVELOPED ASSET
THE fact that the Chamber of Commerce has taken up the subject of the prospective development of the Pakaahu Hot Springs at Awakeri indicates a lively enterprise on the part of local businessmen in making the most of the natural assets which surround the town. All the remarks, with reference to the potentialities-of the springs; their mineral content; their curative capacity', their tourist value, were in the main correct. What we have not heard of however, are the difficulties confronting the controlling authority with regard to their greater development. In fairness we feel that if it were possible to instal better facilities, by means of readily available funds, this would have been done. A little light on the subject would be valuable. It might then, be possible to compare notes and to co-operate towards the erection of dressing sheds and the creation of more attractive surroundings.
