PROGRESS OF THE SHOW
VITAL interest attaches to the proposal to amalgamate the Summer and Winter Shows, and transfer the large building now on the waterfront to the less restricted area in the public domain. If carried into effect it will be possibly the most ambitious move undertaken by the townspeople for many years. The suggestion is undoubtedly a progressive one, calculated to assist forward the prospects of both exhibitions in a very practical manner. On. the other hand the: arguments against the suggestion appear equally as sound. The expense of shifting, renovating and rebuilding could never be higher. The raising of the necessary finance at the present time is another query to be faced, as is likewise the question of access and isolation. At the present time those who have sponsored the movement have definitely produced meat for thought, for the average person who is interested in the show feels a combination of enthusiasm for the clazzling possibilities coupled with a certain reluctant fear at its staggering ambition.
