REV. J. G. LAUGHTON MODERA-
TOR-DESIGNATE
UNANIMOUS ELECTION
The Rev. J. G. Laughton, of Whakatane, superintendent of Maori Missions, was elected moderator designate at the Presbyterian general asembly at Tiraaru on Saturday. Mr Laughton was nominated by every presbytjery throughout the Dominion except Wairarapa, which nominated the Rev. J. D. McL. Wilson, who withdrew his nomination. Mr Laughton is an authority on the- Maori language, and has spent most of his life working among the Miaoris. The centennial of mission work among the Maoris will occur during his term as moderator in 1943.
It was unanimously decided that next year's assembly should lie held at Auckland.
