PARKING DIFFICULTIES

NO FUNDS FOR IMPROVEMENTS

WORKS COMMnrrc^U^ESTl GAFollowing a suggestion by Cr J. G. Mulholland at last month's meeting of the Borough Countcil a full investigation of parking difficulties in certain localities was made by the Works Committee and a report presented to Mondlay's council meeting. The 1 investigations revealed that the problem in Domain Road where cars parked on both sides of the road in the vicini.ty of Dr. F. J. Appleby's and Dr. A. W. Fletcher Cole's surgeries, and left only a narroAV portion of road to be negotiated, that road widening and channelling would be necessary before parking could be restricted. Similar difficulty at the King Street Hall, it was felt, could be overcome by the levelling, kerbing and channelling of a portion of James Street nearby. To facilitate parking at the l Parish Hall it was found that it would be necessary to pipe and fill the water tables to enable the roadway to be widened and somewhat similar difficulties could be overcome in the same 1 way at the Bowling Greens. The committee concluded its report by stating that it recognised the necessity of the works but no provision existed on this year's estimates to enable them to be undertaken.
