BEREAVED MOTHER'S GIFT

SCOTTISH WOMAN DONATES

BOMBER PLANE

TO CARRY ON SON'S FIGHT

A mother is sending a £25.00() Sterling bomber into action. It .is her answer for the loss of her R.A.Fsons; it will carry on the task to which they gave themselves, states the London Daily Mail of August IJO. Lady Macllobert, of Douneside, Tarland, Aberdeenshire, sent n

cheque to buy this plane when she learned that one of her sons had been killed in action, and that another —last of three—was reported missing. Her bomber will be named "Macßobert's Reply," and will carry the family's crest and motto —"Virtutis Gloria Merces" (Glory is th*> reward of valour). "It is my wish," Lady Macßoberts wrote to the Air Ministry, "'to make a • mother's immediate replj r in the way that I know would also be my boys' reply: attacking, striking sharply, straight toi the mark. This expresses my reaction on receiving the news about my-sons." After asking that the plane should be named "Macßobert's Reply" and bear the crest, Lady Mac-Robert continued-: "I have no more sons to wear the badge or carry it in the light."
