Whale in Bay of Plenty. The recent discovery of a seal at Waihi beach near Maketu, gives added. interest to a news item in a Bay of Plenty newspaper at the end of September, .1891, when another unusual visitor to that part of the Baj r of Plenty was a whale. "A whale about 30 feet long was stranded on the beach near Pukehina, between Waihi and Otamarakau last Aveek, an event of considerable rarity of late years, as Avhales seem to have disappeared almost entirely from these Avaters," stated the jjaper.
