WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MATATA MEETING The Matata Women's Institute held their monthly meeting on August 20. Mrs Magee presided over a Very good attendance. Mrs Schick and Mrs Ansel! were selected as delegates to attend the bi-annual council meeting at Waimana. The annual Flower Show was discussed and it was decided to hold this on October 4. Mrs Caverhill gave a most interesting talk on life and industries of China, using the book "The Good Earth" as a subject. Competition results: Naming Native Shrubs: Mrs Magee and Mrs Gnverhill. Best Flower: Mrs H. Withy 1, Mrs H. Burt 2, Mrs Caverhill 3. Vase of Spring Flowers: Mrs Smith 1, Mrs R. Withy 2, Mrs Brady 3. Scones; Mrs Ansell 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mrs R. Withy 3.
