COLOURFUL DISPLAY
SPRING BLOOMS ON SHOW
ANNUAL CHURCH EFFORT
The Parish Hall presented a colourful scone yesterday when the annual v Bulb and Spring Flower Shpw promoted by St George's Church took place. Attracting many residents of the town and district to view the exhibits, the array of blooms Was, although owing to the late season slightly smaller than usual, of very high standard and earned very favourable comment from the judges and others.
Flowers and decorative classes were judged, by Mrs V. Allen, fruit and cookery by Mrs Sloane, while in the fancy work department the awards were made by Mrs Farmer. All arrangements were well in hand thanks to the work of the secretary, Mrs Sutcliffe, and her assistant, Mr L. Rangi.
During tlie afternoon the tea rooms attracted good business, Mesdames Goodall, Suckling, Sims, Burt, Tennant, McLeod and Stewart being kept very busy, while the produce stall in charge of Mesdames Murphy and Shaw netted a useful sum.
