EQUIPPING OF FIRST AID STATIONS WORK OF W.W.S.A. PRAISED

High tribute to the accomplishment of the W.W.S.A. in raising funds for the equipping of emergency clearing stations throughout the county was paid at Wednesday's meeting of the Emergency Precautions Scheme committee. The treasurer reported on the collections as follows:— Donations have been received amounting to £203 Is 6d from the following districts:— Waimana W.W.S.A. 25 0 0 Waiinana anonymous 5 0 25 5 0 Matata W.W.S.A, 15 12 <> Thornton W.W.S.A 5 0 0 Whakatane W.W.S.A 12 11 0 Taneatua W.W.S.A 20' 0 0 Edgecumbe W.W.S.A 10 0 0 Rlanawahe W.W.S.A 6 0 0 r e Tcko w.w.s.a 2(y o a Ruatoki W.W.S.A 2 10 0 Donations including County Council 55 18 (I Anonymous 10 0 Red Cross Whakatane SO 0 0 , j £203 1 G The Deputy Controller reported that a copy of the circular received from the Director of National Service dated 11th July, was forwarded »o all District Wardeps. This stated that the medical' equipment should be provided from the public hospitals and that such equipment was of two kinds, relatively simple equipment consisting of splints, bandages, dressings etc. for Aid Posts and more elaborate equipment for Dressing Stations.

The letter also stated that the E.P.S'. Medical Officer making the arrangements for Dressing Stations should communicate with the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital to ensure that such dressing stations would not be situated in vicinity of what would be emergency hospital areas and so overlapping would be avoided.

In view of the suggestion regarding the supplies the chairman of the Hospital Board, Mr J. W. Sumner, was present. Mr Sumner- in addressing the meeting outlined the proposals of the Health Department and the Hospital Superintendent and stated that these did not coincide with those of the committee regarding the storing of emergency supplies of the establishment of base hospitals.

Following some discussion it wa. decided that a committee be form ed to meet the Hospital Board an> fully review the question.
