DAIRY COMPANY AND TRANSPORT
Earthquakes Last Year. Only 120 earthquakes were felt in New Zealand last year, the lowest figure for some years. Of these i)U were felt only in parts of the North Island and 40 only in the South island, 10 being common to both t«?lands. The great majprity of these shocks were slight ones, unnoticed by most people. The Hawke's HayBay of Plenty region provided much of the seismic activity during February and March.
THE free rein granted the Rangitaiki Dairy Company Directorate by way of instituting- if necessary a 'carrying department' within the concern, is not likely to be a matter which will have a smooth passage. With the added responsibility of the new cheese factory and the general re-adjustment following the change-over the directors may well conceive the idea that their hands are full enough at the present. However all who heard Mr Withy's capable handling of the subject from the supplier's point of view must agree that his arguments were sound and constructive. Developments will therefore be watched with the closest interest.
Filming of Mills. Mr Walter Ford, of Auckland, was yesterday engaged in filming the Whakatane Paper Mlills. The film when developed will b? screened throughout the Dominion. It is understood that interested people in Whakatane will have a pre-vitw of this film when it is completed. The cameraman '•ccently spent some time at Tauranga filming points o>f interest irthe centre.
