BOYS' BAND APPEAL
ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY pounds has already been collected on behalf of the Whakatane Boys' Band, a very creditable effort in view of the limited nature of the drive. This with other funds already in hand should go a considerable distance towards finding the new instruments which the band is so badly in need of. At the same time we trust that the commitee will not lose sight of the uniform question. General opinion has warmly endorsed the id;ea of finding a simple yet effective uniform which would give the band a hundred per cent better appearance. In onoe again adding our congratulations to those of the general public we allso join in the hope that the band will be cemented into a permanent institution which in d&ys to come will give a fresh singularity to our town by way of advertising its progress and its capabilities.
