MANY UNLICENSED VEHICLES
MOTORISTS IN COURT
The majority of cases in which' the Transport Department prosecuted at yesterday's Court involved motorists who were under the erroneous impression that the Department allowed one day's grace for registration, or on the other hand just hopedl the Inspector would not be about on thait, to many now, memorable
Sunday.
Except in two cases where men on final leave had used cars and costs only were imposed the penalty for the olfence was a fine of £1 with costs of 12s added.
Those fined were Peter Ronald McKenzie, Henry William Morgan, Frederick Chas. Woods, David John Scragg, Henry George Warren, Minnie Jane Ramson, Leslie Samuel Berg, Robert George Butler, Robert Fisher, James Warren A. Roberts, Harold Stowcll, Charles Hunia, Tutami Hemi, Muhu Tepu, Dick Munu find Raymond Percival. Rousc.i Cost were charged to Kelly Hotene and Awa Ratihi.
For speeding in Commerce Street Alfred John Mioore was fined £3 with costs 12s.
Driving without due care and attention cost Hori K. Tunui £1 with costs 15s. The case was the result of the defendant backing out ind striking flic County Inspector's car. The defence stated that the defendant had been watching a bus. He had since paid for damage incurred.
Operating a car without a warrant of fitness cost Leslie Samuel Berg 10s with costs 12s, Fenton Wilfred
Butier and Sydney Collier similar amounts, while driving a car both unlicensed and without a warrant resulted in Archibald William Smith being fined £1 and 10s respectively with costs totalling £1 4s.
