MAIZE PICKING
APPEAL NEXT WEEK-END* ENQUIRIES FROM AUCKLAND* The Primary Production Council, consider the results of last weekend's picking as most satisfactory, and it is hoped this weekend to be able to organise a further community effort. Experience has taughfi among other things that it is betteij to deal with thei work in larger! gangs than those • who took the fields last time. To this end the organisers desir© to have no gangs, less than twenty; workers strong. In this manner itis thought, much better progress can be made, while it also obviates the necessity of marking off small uncertain patches for tha benefit of a small band desiring to work only by themselves. Another man rang through and was most iptercsted in the 'possibilities' from a financial viewpoint* These and o,the>rs have been refer' red to the Council who will no* doubt deal appropriately with thenn Further Announcement Next IssueDetails of next week-end's activities will be published in Friday's issue. The urgency of the position has not lessened, rather it has been accelerated owing to the recent showers. The appeal for all what can possibly assist will therefore be renewed and we trust will meet with the same_splendid response.
