HOME GUARDSMEN IN ACTION SETTLE LABOUR PROBLEM During the week-end about 90 Local Home Guardsmen had their first experience in maize plucking on Mir Sisam's property at Whaka-ta-ne, tackling about 9U acres and in about three, hours having all -but about 1% acres finished. It is stated that they inade an excellent jph of the plucking and with a little,;more organisation Avculd have/ completed their task by midday. . r i "The owner of. the prpperfy had had difficulty, in tfppears, in obtaining the usual labour .and had approached the €r.i&rd with the, suggestion that their funds could; benefit considerably, and on a vote the decision was made by ,85 per cent of the men. .
