Probable Hot Spring. It was reported at the HarboinBoard meeting last week by the chairman that men working at the launch jetty had found' a fairly strong stream of water entering the river at that point. This they stated was partially warm and proved a handicap when the building of the stone wall was undertaken. The chairman sitated that this stream might be responsible for the river being phenomenally deep near the jetty where soundings have registered 30 feet.
Additional Dancing Awards. The following additional awards >in connection with the children's dancing scction (Friday) have been .announced : Tap Dance (under 16 years), Isobel Martin 1, C. Barrowman 2, Pat Urquhart and Shirley Gomiskoy 3. Operatic Dance (under l-l years) Phyllis Rivett 1. Unregistered Radios. Three defendants weire fined at the local Court yesterday when Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., presided, for having failed to register wireless, sets. Thompson Nepia was fined £1 with costs 10s, Ernest I. Gartier £1 with £1 4s costs and Alex. Wm. McGregor 10s and costs 14s.
Tyre Prices. Local business firms have received notice that the prices of all makes of tyres and tubes have been ir>~ creased by per cent as from June 3: Poi Dancinff. In the Poi dance for children under 16 years the placingsi Avere Paroa 1 and Poroporo 2, and not as published with the positions reversed in the report of the Winter Show.
