WONDERFUL RECORD OF SERVICE

MR F. J. BURT, OP MATATA;

There are probably very few men in the Dominion who can boast of as long a record of service on local bodies as Mr 11.I 1 . J. Burt, of Matata, who has just been re-elected unopposed to represent the Matata Riding on the Whakatane County Council, the Bay of Plenty Power Board and the Bay of Plenty Hospital

Board.

Mr Burt first took an active part in local body work in 1900 Avhen he was elected a member of the Whakatane County Council which was established in that 3 f ear, and for 41 years and a half he has continued to serve on that body. He was elccted to the first Bay of Plenty Power Board in 1925 and has sat on that body continuously for 1(5 years and for 39 years he has been n member of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board which was first set up in 1902.

The hospital district at that time comprised the Whakatane, Opotiki and Tauranga Counties with headquarters at Tanranga, Mr Burt has also been a member of the Bay ol Plenty Licensing Committee for 21) Tears, and for a long period has been well known as a Rugby administrator in the district. In his earlier days he was considered to be one oi the best half-backs in the Auckland province.
