RUGBY FOOTBALL
Sir, —May I be permitted per medium of your valued paper to exDress concern at the waning interest in the grand o'd game of Rugby, In Whakatane. It is very evident that the season will" make a late start if at all, and that fixtures will be only half-hearted ones, unless more vim is infused into the early promotion of the game. I understand that the" Home Guard will figure in the „in» fcer-district games, yet I have yet to hear of any tangible arrangements made under this heading. Just because the boys are away overseas if is no tim£ to allqw the game to become dead. We need Rugby more Uian ever, for our young players are coming on and in a few years will fill the senior ranks.-If there are* nny blank seasons drawn during the war, the standard will suffer as a result. Where are the Rugby supporters of Whakatane I Keep the old game going. and get a move or,Yours etc., OLD TIMER,
