A Dunedin firm last month manufactured 223 beds for the hospital ship Maunganui in four weeks, the staff working 12 hours; a day,, seven days a week, Tha Ministry of Supply asked for the delivery of the beds in eight Aveeks, and although this Avas considered practically impossible, the staff set to work and completed the contract in just half the time.

The Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, wrote to the' firm expressing the appreciation of the Prime Minister and himself of the spirit which urged it to such efforts to complete the work. . "Developments overseas within the lasfe few day si," Mr Sullivan wrote, "will have given you the clue to the need for urgency in this job and you will he able toi draw some satisfaction in knowing that the result of your work is of direct benefit to our fighting forces."
